Cheque presented at the 2004 March Conference by attending Past Presidents for $5800.00 to be put in the JFAO 50th Anniversary Endowment Fund.
Established in 1994 as a project meant to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario, the Endowment Fund was created as a vehicle to ensure that JFAO can continue to fulfill its mission statement, To Build Future Rural Leaders Through Self-Help and Community Betterment.
JF clubs first began with the objective of increasing young farmers’ practical and interpersonal skills in 1914. Since the creation of the provincial organization in 1944, JFAO has expanded its focus to include broader rural issues, social, cultural, and leadership opportunities as well as continuing to provide an opportunity for young agriculturalists to further enhance their self-development.
Money invested in the JFAO Endowment Fund is used to generate interest that one day will allow the organization to be self-sustaining, of particular importance now that it is no longer government funded. Currently all interest is returned directly to the fund.
