Past President Joe Dickenson, President Brad Found and Past President Cecelia McMorrow hold the cheque for $7,101.75 which was presented to Hincks-Dellcrest Rural Treatment Centre at the 2009 March Conference.
The 2007 provincial JF charity will be The FARM. The FARM is a 20 bed co-educational, voluntary residential treatment program, set on a 100 acre working farm in the Beaver Valley overlooking Georgian Bay. Serving residents age 12 to 17 and their families, jost are designated "hard to serve" based on their psychiatric and emotional disorders.
The FARM's program focuses on school, life and social skills, farm life related skills such as construction, domestic science, horticulture, livestock care, machinery operation and maintenance, and a broad range of outdoor recreational skills. The focus on the farming aspect is to build skills and self esteem through the successes of regular hands-on work while providing top quality food products for use within the program. The farming operation involves a 15-cow beef cow-calf, 30 ewe commercial flock as well as poultry and feeder hogs for home use.
The program works with the greater community to provide support for needs outside normal funding. Current focus areas requiring support include replacement of the manure spreader and upgrading of sports equipment. Hincks-Dellcrest is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services and operates a number of other programs within Toronto.
