March Conference: Leadership, Learning & Celebration
The Annual Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario March Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) are held each year at the end of March. Members from throughout the province gather in Eastern or Western Ontario (alternates each year) for a great weekend of leadership, networking, and to recognize those who have shown outstanding community betterment, locally and provincially. It is an action-packed conference with a dynamic group of speakers, sessions and facilitators each year. The new executive and agricultural representatives are elected, and delegates are chosen for international exchanges at JFAO’s Annual March Conference.
What Happens at March Conference?
Friday: Annual General Meeting & Evening Social
The weekend begins with the AGM, where members participate in democratic governance and elect the new provincial executive and agricultural representatives. Following official business, members gather for dinner and evening entertainment that brings together Junior Farmers from every corner of Ontario for games, socializing, and reconnecting with friends old and new.
Saturday: Professional Development & Community Building
The day starts with inspiring speakers covering topics relevant to modern agriculture and rural leadership—from farm business management and agricultural credit to social media strategy and member engagement. Educational sessions are followed by team-based activities that take advantage of the host city’s unique attractions, encouraging collaboration and friendly competition among clubs.
The evening culminates in the annual banquet and dance, where we celebrate excellence through our awards program, officially welcome the new executive, and honour outgoing presidents for their service. The celebration continues with music, dancing, and the kind of camaraderie that makes Junior Farmers special.
Sunday: Alumni Connections
The weekend concludes with breakfast and networking opportunities with Junior Farmers alumni, connecting current members with those who’ve walked the same path and creating mentorship opportunities that extend beyond the weekend.
Recognition & Awards
March Conference is when we celebrate the achievements that make our organization strong:
Communication Awards recognize clubs’ outstanding work in social media engagement, photography, news coverage, youth events, fundraising innovation, and member recruitment. These awards showcase the creative ways clubs connect with their communities and grow their membership.
Rose Awards honour individual members who embody Junior Farmers’ commitment to self-improvement and community betterment. Categories include Outstanding Novice Member, Outstanding Member, and Outstanding Retiring Member—recognizing those who demonstrate exceptional dedication and leadership.
Club Recognition celebrates clubs that excel in completing annual activities, including community betterment projects, agricultural awareness initiatives, and leadership development opportunities. The Club of the Year and Agricultural Club of the Year awards recognize exceptional commitment to the Junior Farmers’ mission.
Exchange Program Announcements highlight one of our most exciting opportunities—international agricultural exchanges. Each year, Junior Farmers selects delegates for exchanges to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, fostering global connections and expanding our members’ horizons.
March Conference represents the best of Junior Farmers: learning, leadership, lasting friendships, and a shared commitment to agriculture and rural communities. It’s where we reflect on our achievements, plan for the future, and celebrate what makes this organization an unforgettable part of our lives.
