Winter Games

Winter Games is a provincial event held in early March each year. It is hosted by a different club each year and consists of several activities, centered on various sports. Throughout the day, clubs face off in the sports, which may include: basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, soccer and badminton. It is a day full of healthy competition and teamwork, followed by an evening of dancing and social time. Awards for the competition winners are given at the dance.

Winter Games: Where Competition Meets Community

Winter Games is Junior Farmers’ high-energy provincial sports event, bringing members together each early March for a day of athletic competition, team spirit, and celebration. Hosted by a different club each year, this popular event transforms gyms across Ontario into arenas of friendly rivalry where clubs compete for bragging rights and lasting memories.

What Happens at Winter Games?

Morning Energy
The day kicks off with an energizing group warm-up—past events have featured everything from Zumba to team stretches—getting everyone pumped up and ready to compete. It’s the perfect way to shake off the winter blues and dive into the action.
Sports Competitions
Throughout the day, clubs face off in a rotation of competitive sports that may include basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, soccer, and badminton. Each sport brings out different strengths, giving every team member a chance to shine in their specialty. Whether you’re naturally athletic or just there for the fun, Winter Games creates an environment where everyone contributes to their club’s success.
The competitive spirit is real—clubs strategize, encourage each other through close matches, and celebrate hard-fought victories—but it’s all in the name of good sportsmanship and building connections across the province.
Evening Celebration
After a full day of competition, members gather for an evening of dancing and social time. The night culminates in the awards ceremony, where top-performing clubs are recognized for their athletic achievements and team spirit. It’s a chance to celebrate not just the winners, but everyone who gave their all on the court and field.

The Winter Games Experience

Winter Games brings together members from counties across Ontario—often 10-15 clubs competing side by side. It’s a unique opportunity to meet new people, reconnect with friends from other events, and experience the camaraderie that makes Junior Farmers special. The mix of healthy competition, teamwork, and social connection creates an atmosphere where everyone leaves with new stories, inside jokes, and a stronger sense of belonging to the provincial Junior Farmers community.
For returning clubs, there’s pride in representing your county year after year. For hosts, there’s the satisfaction of organizing a memorable event (followed by the relief of getting back to just playing the next year!). For everyone, Winter Games is a reminder that Junior Farmers is about more than meetings and programs—it’s about having fun together.
Whether you’re competitive by nature or just love being part of a team, Winter Games delivers a day you won’t forget: full of action, laughter, and the kind of healthy competition that brings out the best in everyone.
